Chosaan Cultural Heritage Foundation is a nonprofit organization in Janjanbureh Island, formely Georgetown, The Gambia. We are devoted to creating a world where women and girls have access to the knowledge, resources, and support they need to thrive in all aspects of their lives.

We push for the preservation of Africa’s cultural heritage by working with village alkalo's (chiefs), businesses, officials, governments, and international organizations.

Promoting Girls' and Women's Social and Economic Autonomy: The foundation empowers girls and women to have control over their own lives by providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to make informed decisions. This includes training, education, and support for income-generating activities.


Improving the Availability of Sexual and Reproductive Health Services: Chosaan Cultural Heritage Foundation works to ensure that girls and women have access to quality sexual and reproductive health services, which includes information, contraceptives, and maternal care, to make informed choices about their reproductive health.


Fostering National and Regional Capacity for Policy Making on Gender Equality: The foundation is dedicated to influencing policy at the national and regional levels. It advocates for gender equality and works to ensure that laws and policies support the rights and well-being of women and girls.

Under the Companies Act 2013, Chosaan Cultural Heritage Foundation is an accredited non-profit charitable organization located in The Gambia, West Africa. The foundation's mission is to connect the community to evidence-based, outcome-driven programs that support and strengthen the lives of vulnerable women and girls in the region. Specifically, the foundation focuses on women and girls aged between 10 to 26 years old who are at risk of child marriage, early pregnancy, gender-based violence, and no education opportunities.

We maintain a strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and the highest ethical standards in its operations. The foundation's work is instrumental in advancing the rights and opportunities of vulnerable women and girls in The Gambia, contributing to the overall well-being of the community and the promotion of gender equality in the region.

The Board consists of individuals representing various industries that govern the Foundation. These individuals volunteer their time and talent to oversee the continued operation of the Chosaan Cultural Heritage Foundation. They work directly with a team of diverse Officers to determine policy and future programs for the organization. Their function is to protect and enhance our capacity to serve the community.

Purpose Statement:

The purpose of the Great Afro Migration Tribunal (GAMT) is to establish and maintain a platform dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by repatriates who have chosen to seek opportunities on a continent other than their birthplace. GAMT aims to provide a supportive framework that facilitates the successful integration, well-being, and empowerment of individuals navigating the complexities of relocation within the African diaspora.


Intent Statement:

GAMT is driven by the intent to foster a sense of belonging, security, and prosperity among repatriates by offering comprehensive support and resources tailored to their specific needs. Through advocacy, education, and collaboration, GAMT seeks to create a nurturing environment where repatriates can thrive and contribute positively to their adopted communities and societies within the six regions of Africa.


Mission Statement:

The mission of the Great Afro Migration Tribunal (GAMT) is to serve as a beacon of empowerment and solidarity for repatriates across the African continent. By addressing key issues such as women's rights, health and wellness, safety, food and home insecurities, psychological well-being, and community development. GAMT endeavors to facilitate a smooth transition and sustainable livelihoods for individuals embarking on the journey of relocation within Africa.
